A marriage from Heaven
After one month of chatting online, God clearly spoke to both of us that we should marry. As strange as this sounds, it was also exciting. Two people in two different countries “stuck” in their homes during the lockdown…
I love a story from Genesis where God decides it is not good for a man to be alone, so He decides to give Adam a helper. The word translated as a helper is the word “ezer.” This term describes Eve as a helper suitable for Adam. What is important is that this term does not imply an inferior role. In the biblical context, “ezer” conveys the idea of a strong, necessary aid, partner, and companion. It is a complementary role and signifies collaboration between Adam and Eve.
We all need a partner, a companion, a person to share our dreams and hearts. Today, my prayer for every single person reading this post is that God provides you with a spouse according to His riches, just as He did for me.
In the meantime, here is our story to inspire your faith.
Eva: I began to feel a deep desire to purify my heart, repent from any sins that came to mind, and break every chain. My longing for an encounter with God led me to discover an online ministry during the Covid lockdown. Experiencing a touch from heaven, I decided to volunteer in that ministry. As prayer helper volunteers, we had fellowship via Zoom, and it was during these sessions that I first saw Rene.
Rene: On one particular day during a Zoom session, it was just Eva, myself, and our group pastor—a strong Caribbean British lady who decided to step away and leave us to chat. We wondered why…
Eva: After our conversation, we exchanged details and continued chatting for a couple of months. Getting to know each other during the lockdown felt adventurous, with the restriction of not being able to go outside, but having plenty of time to share our hearts from the coziness of our homes.
Rene: When the lockdown finally lifted in June, we couldn’t wait to meet in person. So we planned to meet in Lisbon for our first date. We spent a few days traveling around Portugal, and by the end, I already knew that I heard God correctly about marrying Eva.
Eva: In July, Rene came to Poland to ask me and my dad for my hand in marriage. We arranged our wedding in Denmark for August. Our special day took place in a family garden surrounded by flowers, under the sunny weather, with our closest family and friends present, joined by extended family and ministry friends via Zoom.
So, we got married on the third date. But how did we know we were meant to marry? How did we know God was our matchmaker? See our YT video for more details..
